Christmas Fun

A few days before Christmas we went up to the Hogle Zoo and saw the lights up there. It was really cute, but it was snowing and super cold and none of the pictures we took of the animals even turned out... oh well. McKenzie had fun!
After dinner we hurried and walked around Temple Square for a few minutes before we decided it was late, we were all freezing and it was time to go. McKenzie ended up getting sick because we stayed out in the cold too long, but I'm not sure she even cared. She LOVES being outside.
This year Micah's whole family stayed over at our house. My family was all in Georgia, and I missed them terribly. Having Micah's family there made it easier and good times were had by all.

Tree Christmas morning.

McKenzie's favorite things from her stocking- an orange and her toothpaste.

We got her a little chair because it was something we knew she'd love. She's always trying to sit in her book/toy boxes, doll stroller, drum, etc. so we thought she deserved a nice soft seat to rest her little bum. Look at that sassy face!

McKenzie stacking her gifts. She carried around the plates almost the whole morning.

Happy Family!

Behind Blue Eyes

We took McKenzie to the ophtalmologist on the 3rd and the diagnosis- glasses for my sweet little girl. He said she doesn't need a patch, but we have another appointment in 6 weeks to check and make sure this is the right way to go.

So here's what was going on- she is farsided in both eyes with astigmatism as well (which is what I have). Because her right eye wasn't "as bad" as her left, her brain was basically shutting off her left eye to focus more on using her right which causes her left eye to drift to the middle. If left untreated she would eventually lose vision in her left eye. The glasses will ease the stress on her eyes and it shouldn't drift anymore. The only problem is that once she is wearing her glasses all the time we'll see her eye drift more when she isn't wearing her glasses. (That's where Micah and I think the patch would help strengthen her left eye so that won't be an issue, but we're not doctors so what do we know? haha) I guess we'll see at the 6 week appointment if we are right.

It took a week for them to come in and we got the call that we could pick up her glasses this morning. She's only worn them for about an hour so far today (since it is naptime right now) and she's doing ok with them. The doc said to restrain her arms for a few minutes if she tries to pull them off so we've had to do that a few times, but she's doing a little better than I expected. Hopefully she realizes that they are helping her and she'll stop trying to pull them off.

As you can tell, she's thrilled to have them...

Boom Boom, Shaka Laka Boom Boom!

We rented Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs this week and McKenzie LOVED it. Especially at the end when they had a pretty sweet song she could dance to.

But before we get to that, has anyone else had issues uploading videos through blogger? I know I've complained about it several times before but this is getting way out of hand. It takes almost 2 hours to upload a 30 second video and I left this video (approx 1 minute long) to upload overnight and it still wasn't done this morning. I hit cancel and gave up. I used to just post the code from my photobucket site and the video would show up inside the post, but blogger has made it impossible to copy/paste ANYTHING (I can't even cut out this paragraph and paste it somewhere else within this post) If anyone else has had issues with this, please let me know if/how you got it resolved. I guess from now on I'll just post the videos as a link to my photobucket site. Click on this link to see McKenzie's new moves. Ice Age Dance Watch out for her scary dino impressions and riverdance feet!

Don't mind my messy house... I try to keep it clean, but there's only so much you can do when your child dumps out all the toys/books/clothes/etc. right after you've put them away nice and neat and orderly. Pick your battles I guess...

Oh yeah, and the little baby bouncing on my knee is our neighbor's little boy that I babysit during the day. McKenzie loves him and gives him hugs and kisses all the time.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland!

We had our first snowstorm at the beginning of the week so we decided to let McKenzie go out and experience the snow. She LOVED it! (In fact she was pretty mad when it came time to go back in the house even though her little nose looked like a cherry.)

She held onto Daddy's hand for the first little bit, but then I got some great videos of her walking almost half of our block by herself- she's a pretty independant little girl you know... the videos are on our video camera and not our regular camera I'm not sure how to post them on here. Sorry! But enjoy these few pictures I took before the camera battery died haha

Getting ready to go outside

Are you guys going to open the door or what?
