100 Things You Never Asked To Know

So my cousin/good friend Savannah had this on her blog and I thought it looked like fun to do. Basically this will be the longest post of all time- including anything and everything you could possibly ever want to (or maybe not) know about me.


1. My full name is Cassidy Lynne Bate. I got my middle name from my mom and grandma. Micah and I decided to pass it on to McKenzie as well. I think it is a beautiful name and a wonderful reminder of who I am and where I came from.
2. Being a mom has certainly been the best thing I have ever done. I can't imagine anything being more important.
3. The first time I saw Micah, I knew I wanted to date him. And I was willing to do whatever it took. Like going to the wrong Family Home Evening group on purpose because he was in charge. Hehehe...
4. Snuggling with Micah is one of my favorite things to do.
5. I love when kids are completely honest. It makes me laugh- like the time my cousin Joseph asked why I had chicken pox on my face and I had to explain "acne" to him. Which reminds me...
6. Acne is something I have always struggled with. I've tried everything (even Rx's) but once I got married I quit the pills and started using Pro-Activ. I've been using Pro-Activ for almost 2 years now and guess what- I STILL HAVE ACNE.
7. I've never done my own taxes
8. I wish April and Tyler would move to Utah. Even though I know they are doing what is best for their family, I secretly wish they would...
9. If I could eat cereal for every meal of the day and not die of malnutrition, I totally would.
10. I don't feel comfortable with a bunch of people in a swimming pool. I get all panicky thinking that someone could dunk me under the water and I would drown.
11. I can't jump into a pool without plugging my nose.
12. I'm 22 years old and can't whistle, but I know a 1-year old who can.
13. I'm kind of obsessed with coupons. I feel that my job is to make Micah's paycheck go as far as it can, so I combine sales with coupons to save us money.
14. I have a love/hate relationship with shopping. I love to try on clothes (except pants cause they're never long enough) but I hate to pay for them.
15. I want to be on "What Not to Wear" (Savannah, I'll nominate you if you nominate me!)
16. I find it ironic that I can play certain songs on a real guitar that I can't play on Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
17. My closet hangers are color coordinated with my clothes. (blue shirts on blue hangers, green on green, etc.)
18. My mom laughs at me that my closet hangers are color coordinated.
19. I've been caught saying things like, "fixin to" and "used to could"
20. With that said, it's pretty obvious I spent the first half of my life living in Georgia...hahaha
21. My hands and feet are always cold- and Micah has nicknamed me "A.F" for arctic feet
22. Before our first kiss, Micah asked me if he could kiss me.
23. Our first date was to Ben and Jerry's. Micah sure knows the way to my heart!
24. The Ben and Jerry's where we had our first date no longer exists.
25. The night Micah and I got engaged, he had planned a scavenger hunt and his cousin David was going to drive me around (all of this I was clueless of). So when David came into the room in a tux, speaking French and handed me a rose, my first thought was, "David what are you doing?- I'm dating your cousin!" I still chuckle about that...
26. Sometimes I just stand by McKenzie's crib and watch her sleep.
27. And other times I'll sneak into her room when she's just talking to herself in her crib and watch her- and it makes me so incredibly happy when she finally realizes I'm standing there and gives me a huge grin.
28. I married into a wonderful family. I feel bad for people who don't get along with their in-laws because I have the best ones out there and am so glad to call them Mom and Dad.
29. When I was 3 weeks away from my due date Micah and I were going to a car show. It was the 4th of July and I didn't have any shorts, so I went to Kmart and called Micah and asked for his waist size because I wasn't about to spend money on shorts I would only wear a few more times. So I bought his size and now they're his.
30. I weighed almost as much as Micah when I had McKenzie. Hahaha
31. I wish I were fluent in Spanish so I could tell my stupid neighbors to turn their music down when McKenzie is sleeping- oh who am I kidding, they just need to turn it off permanently. We bought our own house so we didn't have to listen to the neighbor's music- I shouldn't be able to hear it clearly while I'm in the shower with the windows and doors shut.
32. I hate coconut. In any form.
33. This leads me to believe if I were trapped on a deserted island, I would die of starvation.
34. I am constantly amazed at how many stats Micah knows when it comes to sports.
35. One of my biggest pet peeves is people who stop at a roundabout when there are no other cars in sight!!!
36. When I'm singing songs to McKenzie, sometimes I make up words to songs because I don't know the real ones.
37. Ever since 9th grade I wanted to be news reporter. I didn't care if it was print or broadcast, I wanted to write and report.
38. The summer before my senior year of high school, I wrote a news article about my grandpa retiring from Delta that was published in his hometown newspaper. And guess what- they didn't even give me credit for the story.
39. I'm proud to say that I never once changed my major in college.
40. It was journalism by the way... ha ha
41. I'm glad that I get to be able to stay home with McKenzie, but if for some reason I have to start working one day, I hope I can work on the LDS church publications. (ie, Ensign, New Era, Friend)
42. I HATE math.
43. I really really really really want a sewing machine.
44. I have recently discovered that I LOVE to make pies.
45. I wish I could meet Jon and Kate Gosselin and their wonderful kids. (Watch Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC) I pretty much want to be exactly like them when it comes to parenting.
46. That doesn't mean I want 8 kids... just that I love the way they discipline and interact with their kids.
47. I take at least 5 pictures a day of McKenzie.
48. We will eventually need a bigger hard drive on our computer if I keep this up.
49. I hate wearing my glasses so I usually only wear them when it's absolutely necessary- driving, using the computer or reading.
50. I really really really want contacts but I don't think I'll be able to do them because I can't even put eyedrops in by myself. I make Micah do it. :-)
51. If I don't wear mascara it looks like I don't have eyelashes because they are so light.
52. Before I got married I used to call putting on makeup, "putting on my war paint"
53. Sometimes I think I want to raise my kids somewhere other than Utah, but then realize that both of our families are here and we would miss them a lot.
54. That, and my mom would probably kill me if we took McKenzie out of state ;-)
55. I wish I were good at scrapbooking.
56. My birthday is July 11th.
57. The 7-11 in Bountiful would always give me a supersized Slurpee for free on my birthday.
58. If I were to go on a game show, I would choose "Don't Forget the Lyrics"
59. Micah has told me that he never knows if I really like a song or not because I live by the principle, "If you know the words, sing along."
60. I worked at Babies R Us for 4 years. It was fun to see all the babies!
61. One of my favorite things at church is the week of the Primary Program. Even though I don't have children old enough to be in it, I love their little voices and I get so excited thinking about when my kids will be singing with them one day.
62. I hated junior high, but LOVED high school.
63. During the last 2 months of my pregnancy I was retaining so much water that I had to wear Micah's shoes.
64. Barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen was a reality for me. Haha
65. I've broken my arm 4 times.
66. Getting an epidural was easily one of the best decisions I've ever made.
67. Raw chicken used to always gross me out, but it doesn't really bother me anymore.
68. ...Except when I cooked a whole chicken for the first time and didn't know that the guts and organs were still inside. I almost puked several times as I cut them out.
69. I love to give hugs.
70. I actually looked good in my first driver's license picture. The new one, not so much...
71. I was so scared that I would have an ugly baby, but as soon as I saw McKenzie, I knew I'd never seen anything more beautiful in my entire life.
72. McKenzie knew what kind of music she liked and really didn't like when she was in my belly. She loves Phil Collins and HATES Prince. That's my girl...
73. I used to catch frogs and lizards and keep them in jars under my bed when I was little.
74. I was so sure that my mom didn't know I did that, but she more than likely did.
75. And if not, she does now. Haha
76. I memorized dinosaur names when I was little and would read anything I could about them.
77. The first movie I remember being scared of was "Arachnophobia." My mom had sent us to bed but April and I watched it from the top of the stairs. I had nightmares for weeks.
78. I love to play basketball, but since I haven't played in a few years I'm sure I wouldn't be very good at it.
79. When it comes to music I am definately my father's child.
80. Some of my favorite bands are: The Who, Rolling Stones, Queen, Journey, Creedence Clearwater Revival, E.L.O. and Aerosmith.
81. I went to India for a few weeks with my grandma in 2004. I did humanitarian work at an orphanage and a leper colony. It was definately one of the best experiences of my life.
82. Our driver in India was Hindu (at the time- he's now LDS!) and when we were eating some jerky he wanted to try some. We told him he couldn't cause it was beef, and he gave us a confused look. We then said, "It's cow, Mani" and the look on his face was hilarious! I guess he never pictured beef to look like that...
83. I remember faces very well, but have a harder time with names.
84. I love to have a lemon in my water- and I base a lot of what my tip will be when we go out to eat if the server remembered to bring me some lemons.
85. It makes me so happy to see how excited Micah gets about McKenzie- He'll go in her room at least 4 times to give her a kiss goodnight before he goes to bed.
86. I hate to workout. I need extreme motivation... anyone want to be a workout buddy?
87. I love to read- the only problem is once I start a book that is all I want to do until I'm done with it. That explains why I read the first 4 Harry Potter books in a little over a week...
88. I'm addicted to the Twilight series just like every other girl in the world.
89. I hate folding laundry.
90. But I hate doing the dishes more.
91. I love when people leave comments on my blog.
92. When Micah and I were dating I had to change my cell phone plan to include unlimited text messaging because I went WAY over my limit one month...
93. I check Facebook on my phone all the time.
94. I love to eat yogurt as long as there are no fruit chunks in it, so I only buy the same 3 flavors every time.
95. My dream home has a big front porch with a swing, a fenced in backyard and room for my dining room table.
96. My main reasoning behind buying the house we are in now wasn't that we could rent out the basement. It was because I had room for my dining room table. That's how much I love it.
97. I've never cried watching a movie. Ever.
98. I'm not a very emotional person. I can only recall maybe 10 times where I've cried because I was happy (or for no reason at all for that matter).
99. I'll be suprised if anyone actually read all of this...
100. I fall in love with Micah all over again every day. He is my best friend, my confidante, and my eternal companion. I don't know what I would do without him in my life and I look forward to being with him forever.
